An invitation for ECAM Lyon to the meeting of the Union of Metallurgical Industries (UIMM) of the Rhone region

On the 4th July 2017, in the presence of their President, Paul Rolland and the President of the UIMM, Alexandre Saubot, key players in the Rhone region Metallurgy sector met to celebrate their industry at the Lyon-Bron Aerodrome.

In 2016, the aeronautical industry achieved a turnover of 3.3 billion Euros, and this important occasion was an opportunity to highlight this successful sector. Three major industrial players took part: Safran Landing Systems, Eldec France-Crane Aerospace and Vision Systems.

The 400 participants from companies, professional organisations and industrial federations, training centres and engineering schools celebrated an industry that is growing, bringing solutions to the everyday life of French people and is building… the future. ECAM Lyon was one of just two engineering schools to be invited.

Didier Desplanches, Director of ECAM Lyon, presented the Campus 2025 plan for his school. In particular, he highlighted the launch of the international ECAM Engineering course, to be taught entirely in English. For the occasion, the student-engineers of the first year group had produced a video on the theme of inter-culturalism through engineering science. By participating in such an event, ECAM Lyon is able to strengthen its ties with companies and notably with the metallurgy sector. Indeed, this sector recruits many engineers every year and 5% of the ECAM ‘Arts et Métiers’ engineers begin their careers in this sector.
