First intake of students from China

BoDian, JiHao, Kai, ManDeNi … eight young Chinese students are beginning their ECAM ‘Arts et Métiers’ or ECAM Engineering courses on the Lyon campus this year. They are the first students to join ECAM Lyon thanks to the « recruitment in China consortium ».

In 2016, ECAM Lyon joined a consortium of French ‘Grandes Ecoles’ (ESIGELEC, EIGSI, NEOMA BS) working in close partnership with Chinese High Schools to encourage young, post-baccalaureate students to come to France. Within this framework, selected secondary school pupils come to France in their sixth form to discover our country and the different schools in the consortium. They receive scientific and linguistic preparation in French while still in China and this continues in France before they begin their courses.

A specific « adapted final school year » to prepare for studies in the consortium schools has also been put in place with the Guangming High School in Shanghai and the Foreign Languages High School in Hangzhou. The high school pupils in both these schools participate in seminars to learn about the French schools and as part of this programme, ECAM Lyon welcomed a group of 40 young people from Shanghai in January 2017 and will receive a group of 23 young people from Hangzhou next October.
